July 30

received the frront drive sprocket today.  It fit on the shaft of them motor.  I don't remember seeing the key though.
Yesterday I got the batteries at last.  They are all fully charged.  The charger won't be ready until next week.
I also have the dc-dc converter which converts 72V to 12 for motorcycle lights.    Now I will be out of town for a week while my new toy sits at home.   I can't wait to make that motor turn!

Fwd: July 26 2011

I made up some of the cables and crimped them. Started connecting the controller, fuse, solenoid.
Ordered a front sprocket.  Measured the shaft diameter.  It is big 7/8"  over 21 mm.

Reviewed schematics to see where diode and resister go.

I think across the control wires of the solonoid.

Need to buy more bolts.

Electic motor depot will give me free DC-DC converter since batteries are late.

May need to order #50 industrial change to work with old rear sprocket and new one on order.

connected controller

So far, I have connected the Altrax 7245 controller to my PC and was able to read throttle position and change the settings in the controller.  I started connection the crip leads to the thick Copper cabling provided to start wiring the controller to the motor.   I understand the wiring diagram and all the components now.
There is a solenoid, fuse, shunt (for cycleAnalyst gauge to measure current).   There is also a diode and resister that are to be connected accross the solenoid.

I hope to get the batteries and charger this week.   After getting it all running on the bench I figure out how I will mount on the bike.

I still need to order a DCDC  converter get 12V for the lights on the bike.  I also still need to order a front sprocket for the motor.

received controller, motor, throttle and solenoid.

Now I can start wiring it up.  The batteries and charger are not in yet.  There seems to be a problem with getting them in stock.  I hope it won't take too long.  the motor is huge. The size of a basketball.
